World Cup 6, Bromont
Published on 5th August, 2009The team travelled to Bromont on Tuesday. On Wednesday the weather was great and I headed to the venue to do some training laps. The course was slightly different, but an improvement on last years.
Weather- Thursday hot and sunny, Friday wet, Saturday great, Sunday VERY heavy rain…. It’s the same for every racer when the weather turns nasty but I was really hoping for a dry race, my start number was 40 so I lined up on the 4th or 5th row. We raced straight off the start line into the first climb. I didn’t manage to make up many places and crested the top in the mid 30’s.
The driving rain continued throughout our race and turned the course conditions into a sort of ‘clean mud’ so the course was 100 % ridable due to the thin mud and gritty rocks.
Anyway I ended up 21st.
My Swiss team-mate Lukas loves these conditions, he made up for my average result showing off the Trek team colours on the podium in 5th.
I know the form is good and I’m eager to let it rip as some as I get the chance!
Keep rollin’
LK.
